Amazon FBA fee questions that surface after inventory lands

How are Amazon FBA fees calculated?

A realistic model combines the category referral percentage, size-tier fulfillment fee, inbound freight and placement, prep, monthly storage volume, inventory penalties, return damage, PPC and account overhead. Amazon revenue is not contribution profit.

Why does Q4 storage change FBA profitability?

Amazon publishes higher October–December storage rates. Standard-size storage is shown at $2.40 per cubic foot versus $0.78 from January–September, so slow inventory can suffer a sharp seasonal margin hit.

What causes an FBA size-tier fee spike?

Amazon uses packaged dimensions and shipping weight. A packaging change, measurement correction or dimensional re-tier can move a SKU into a more expensive fulfillment and storage tier. Verify dimensions in Fee Preview rather than trusting a supplier carton sheet.

What is the low-inventory-level fee?

It is a potential per-unit charge for eligible standard-size products with inventory levels that remain low relative to sales. Enter the actual Fee Preview amount because eligibility and rates depend on Amazon account data.

Is this a replacement for Amazon Revenue Calculator?

No. Use this model to stress-test costs Amazon calculators often show separately, then confirm current SKU-specific charges in Revenue Calculator, Fee Preview and Seller Central before purchasing inventory.
